WatchGuard makes Firebox firewalls and related security services for small and mid-sized businesses, plus AuthPoint multifactor authentication and secure Wi-Fi. Bluetek installs, manages and supports WatchGuard across Central PA offices.
What it does
A Firebox protects the network edge and, with security services, inspects traffic for intrusions, malware and risky websites. It also provides site-to-site and remote VPN.
Typical small-business use
Clients typically run a Firebox T-series at each office, branch VPNs, mobile VPN for remote staff, separate networks for guests and phones, and dual internet failover.
Problems we fix
We fix VPN failures, slowdowns after enabling services, broken port forwards, call quality issues and failover that doesn’t fail over. We also clean up policy lists that grew over the years.
Licensing quirks
WatchGuard sells Basic Security and Total Security suites that expire on fixed dates, and some features only work with the higher suite. Hardware also reaches end of life. We track both and quote renewals early so protection never lapses.
Firmware and advisories
WatchGuard publishes security advisories for Fireware. We apply updates promptly, restrict management access and review advisories as they come out.
AuthPoint MFA
WatchGuard’s AuthPoint adds multifactor sign-in to VPN and other apps. We set it up so remote access requires a second factor.
Central management
WatchGuard Cloud lets us manage every Firebox from one place, push consistent policies and see alerts across sites.
Rule reviews
We document every policy, remove old ones and close anything exposed that doesn’t need to be.
Replacing old hardware
When a Firebox ages out, we migrate the configuration to a new model with minimal downtime.
Monitoring
We watch health, VPN use and threats, and get alerts if the firewall goes offline.

Choosing the right model
Firebox models are rated for throughput with services on, not just raw speed. We size the appliance to your internet line and user count, so security inspection doesn’t become the bottleneck as your connection gets faster.
Guest and phone networks
We separate guest Wi-Fi, VoIP phones, cameras and staff devices into their own networks with rules between them, so a compromised camera can’t reach your file server.
Reporting
Monthly summaries show blocked threats, VPN use and renewal dates.
