Why back up Microsoft 365

Microsoft keeps your service running, but it doesn’t promise to restore data you or an attacker deleted. Deleted items age out, a departed employee’s mailbox disappears when the license is removed, and ransomware can sync encrypted files into OneDrive. A separate backup protects against all of that.

Clients back up every mailbox and OneDrive, the SharePoint sites that hold company files, and Teams. Regulated offices use archiving to keep email for years and search it quickly for audits or legal requests.
