Most business PCs in Central PA come from three makers: Dell, HP and Lenovo. Bluetek helps clients buy the right business-class models, sets them up with Microsoft Intune and Autopilot, keeps BIOS and drivers updated, tracks warranties and handles repairs, whatever the logo on the lid.
Business class, not retail
Business lines like Dell Latitude, HP EliteBook and Lenovo ThinkPad cost a little more than retail laptops but have better build quality, longer model availability, business warranties, manageability features and no consumer bloatware. They last longer and cost less over five years.
Dell
Dell Latitude laptops, OptiPlex desktops and Precision workstations are common in our client base. Dell ProSupport warranties offer next-business-day onsite repair, and Dell Command Update keeps BIOS and drivers current. We register Dells for Autopilot at purchase, so they ship straight to staff and configure themselves, and we track service tags and warranty dates in our RMM.
HP
HP EliteBook and ProBook laptops, Elite and Pro desktops and Z workstations are widely used in offices. HP Wolf Security features add hardware-level protection, and HP Care Packs extend warranties. We use HP’s management tools to keep BIOS and firmware updated, set BIOS passwords and register devices for Autopilot.
Lenovo
Lenovo ThinkPad laptops, ThinkCentre desktops and ThinkStation workstations are known for durable keyboards and long service life. Lenovo Premier Support provides direct access to advanced technicians, and Lenovo System Update or Commercial Vantage handles drivers. We deploy and patch them like every other managed device.
Choosing a model
We recommend specific models based on role: lightweight laptops for travel, docking setups for hybrid staff, more memory for heavy Excel or line-of-business apps and workstations for CAD and design. At least 16 GB of memory and SSD storage is our baseline.
Autopilot and zero-touch setup
With Autopilot, a new laptop can ship to an employee’s home, sign them in and install apps and security policies automatically.
BIOS and driver updates
Firmware vulnerabilities and outdated drivers cause security risks and crashes. We push vendor updates on a schedule through our RMM.
Warranty and repairs
We track warranty end dates, file warranty claims with Dell, HP or Lenovo, and arrange onsite repair or swaps. Accidental damage coverage is worth considering for laptops that travel.
Docks and accessories
We standardize docks, monitors and peripherals so any laptop works at any desk.
Replacement planning
We plan replacements around four to five years for most PCs and budget them in advance.
