DNSFILTER WEB FILTERING SALES AND SUPPORT

DNSFilter is a cloud DNS security service. Every time a device looks up a website, DNSFilter checks the domain and blocks known phishing, malware and newly registered threat sites before the connection is made. Bluetek deploys and manages DNSFilter for Central PA clients.

What it does

Because filtering happens at the DNS lookup, it’s fast and works on any device. DNSFilter’s AI categorizes domains in real time, so brand-new phishing sites are blocked often before other tools know about them. It also enforces acceptable-use rules by category.

Typical small-business use

Clients use DNSFilter to stop staff from reaching phishing pages after a bad click, to block malware callbacks and to keep guest Wi-Fi from reaching adult or illegal content. A roaming agent protects laptops at home and on the road.

Problems we fix

We fix sites blocked by mistake, apps that break because a domain is filtered and roaming clients that stop reporting. We maintain allow and block lists and review reports for signs of infected machines.

Licensing quirks

DNSFilter is typically licensed per user or per device, with network-only protection available for guest Wi-Fi. Roaming agents count toward the license. We match the plan to how you work and keep counts in line.

Deployment

We point office firewalls at DNSFilter, push roaming agents to laptops through RMM and set policies by group, so the warehouse and the accounting office can have different rules.

Reporting

Owners get a monthly summary of blocked threats and top categories, useful for insurers and audits.

How it fits our stack

DNSFilter is one layer in our defense, alongside email security, Huntress EDR and ThreatLocker. It catches threats at the moment of a click, before they reach the endpoint.

Protecting guest and IoT networks

Guest Wi-Fi, smart TVs, cameras and other devices can’t run security agents. Filtering their DNS at the firewall blocks malware callbacks and keeps the network from being used for abuse. We set separate, stricter policies for those networks.

Stopping bypass

Some browsers and apps try to use their own encrypted DNS, which skips filtering. We block those bypass routes at the firewall and in browser policies, so protection stays on without staff noticing.

Investigating alerts

A burst of blocked lookups from one machine can mean infection. We watch for those patterns and check the device with Huntress before it becomes a bigger problem.
